Debug mode

Pin a bug with a reproduction, then fix that cause.

Debug mode is for a failure you can trigger and still cannot place. Tetrarch states a few guesses, gathers evidence while you reproduce it, and then edits the cause.

Use it when

• The bug is repeatable and the cause is not obvious from reading
• Timing or ordering changes the result
• The problem shows up only while the app is running
• Something that used to work has slipped

What happens

• Tetrarch reads the surrounding code and writes down plausible causes
• It adds temporary logging aimed at those causes
• It asks you to reproduce the bug and gives you the steps
• It reads what happened and makes a narrow fix
• After you confirm the fix, it removes the logging

Help it along

Include the error text and the exact steps. Follow those steps when it asks. If the bug is flaky, reproduce it more than once. Say what you expected and what you saw.
