Subagents
A helper with its own conversation. The main chat gets the result.
A subagent takes one part of the work, finishes it, and reports back. The main conversation stays about the decision, because the helper's notes stay in its own thread.
When to use one
- A long look through the repo
- Several pieces that can proceed together
- A check that the finished work actually holds
- A job that needs its own instructions
A one-step action, such as drafting a changelog note, belongs in a skill.
Already there
Search, shell commands, and the browser can run as their own passes. Tetrarch does this when the intermediate output would crowd the chat. You can also ask: use a subagent to find every place we validate a shipping address.

Describe the helper you want and Tetrarch can save it for this project. Run it in front of you when you need the answer before continuing, or let it work in the background while you do something else. You can resume one later from the chat.
